Marina Liang, Chapter President, Returning board member (2016 VP, Communications) Business, B.S. ’14, Psychology, B.A.’14

Marina was born and raised in California and loves learning new things and continuing to challenge herself. She has a background in psychology, business, technology, and security. Outside of work, Marina enjoys outdoor activities, excursions, art, music, and trying new food. Marina received her simultaneous degree with B.S. from Haas and a B.A. in Psychology in 2014 and hopes to pursue an MBA down the road. She currently lives in Medford. Marina is looking forward to be serving you as your chapter president in 2017.

John Garcia, Special Events Lead, Returning board member (2016 Vice President), MBA ‘13

John is the New Products Launch lead at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals. Prior to Alnylam, John led the Global Commercial Operations at Alexion and US Commercial Operations at Biogen. He has also held sales leadership and business development roles at several medical device companies. Prior to that he was an Infantry Officer Major in the US Marine Corps. John graduated from the EWMBA program in 2013 and holds a B.S. degree in Political Science from the US Naval Academy in 1999. John lives in Wayland, MA with his wife, three young children, two dogs, and a cat. John spends his time with his family primarily, and on occasion has time for the outdoors and cooks often with his children.

Tiffany Lam, VP Communications, MBA ‘11, Environmental Economics & Policy, B.S. ‘00

Tiffany moved to the U.S. from Hong Kong at age 15 in pursuit of better education. She is currently on sabbatical, being the “students always” and learning new things that are beyond her comfort zone. Tiffany graduated from Cal undergrad and Berkeley-Columbia EMBA. She lives in Boston and volunteers as an English tutor for ESOL learners. She enjoys photography (amateur and still learning!) and working on creative projects. She travels to California often to visit friends and family. Understanding consumer behaviors through data is Tiffany’s career passion. She started as a buyer for Macy’s and prior to sabbatical, she worked for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Product Sector, managing Business Analytics and Consumer Insights.
 
Tiffany’s Favorite Cal Memory: Walking up to Memorial Stadium for football games and all decked out in Blue & Gold.

Ernesto Mireles, VP Careers & Student Outreach, Returning board member (2016 VP Careers & Student Outreach), MBA ‘12

Ernesto is Director of Corporate Development for Acquia, a Boston based company that provides the leading cloud platform for building, delivering, and optimizing digital experiences. Ernesto previously worked on Mergers and Acquisitions for Oracle, and was Director of Customer Support for Art Technology Group. Ernesto graduated from Haas in 2012 as a member of the EWMBA Gold Cohort, and graduated from MIT in 1997 with a B.S. in Computer Science. Ernesto lives in Belmont with his wife and daughter, is fluent in Spanish and German, and coaches for the Belmont 2nd Soccer program.

Bryon Crower, Special Events Lead, MBA ‘99

Bryon is an entrepreneur and a father of 4. He is the Founder of Life is Fluid, a company that offers a hydration system made in the USA and designed for the active lifestyle. Bryon graduated from the Full Time MBA program at Haas in 1999 and received a degree in Finance and Economics from the Eli Broad School of Business at Michigan State in 1989.

Doug Beck, Special Events Lead, Returning board member (2016 Secretary), Finance, B.S. ‘89

Doug recently founded Tailwind Wealth Management to pursue his lifelong dream of helping individuals pursue financial independence through identifying and maintaining a personalized, prudent investment discipline and a cost-conscious approach. Doug has an extensive background in the financial services industry where he has worked for 26 years. Doug relocated to Hingham with his family three years ago from New Jersey, where he lives with his wife Dilek and two sons (Aydin 9, and Jon 14). He received his B.S. from Haas, graduating with honors in 1989. He is also a CFA charter holder.

Doug’s Favorite Cal Memory: Finishing my Finance final in early summer of 1988, coming back to my fraternity house after a day at Stinson beach following that final, and receiving a call from my future employer interviewing me for an internship. Everything finally started falling into place!

Asad Ali, Treasurer, Returning board member (2016 Associate Board), MBA ‘06

Asad is a product evangelist working for a software company in Boston MA. He is passionate about success of his customers in their journey to the cloud computing. Asad is a professional photographer and an avid runner.

Malcolm Brooks, Webmaster, Returning board member (2016 Associate Board), MBA ‘89

Malcolm is a documentary songwriter and composer. His documentary songs can be heard on recent releases by the Push Farther Project, Cotton Polly, Marieke Slovin, and the Carnegie Hall-Bay Chamber Lullaby Project. He has composed scores for films that have won numerous honors, including two Emmy nominations and a Peabody award. Malcolm earned degrees from Columbia, Berkeley-Haas (EWMBA program), and Prescott, and lives in Rockport, Maine, with his wife Barbara.
 
Current Career Adventure: Documentary Songwriter and Composer
